Allen,
Pull up your pants. Your big bare bias is showing.
You reprint the "competent Mitch Johnson" letter from Ed Kitchen on Friday stating it was because of typing errors on Thursday. Replacing "some" with "such" and "a" with "an" is hardly an excuse to reprint a letter. In no way did that change the intent of the original letter.
You also print a letter from Matthew Felling on Friday calling Trudy Wade a liar when you specifically stated in your election letter rules that personal attacks would not be tolerated.
Please, at least wear underwear so as to attempt to cover that bare bias.

Tony:
Look a little closer. Sad to say, those weren't the only errors.
It is our policy in such cases of wholesale errors, especially ones that could change the tone or meaning of a letter, to reprint full letters.
It was no special favor to Kitchen.

Any comments on this?

On the letter:
We did not construe it as a personal attack. It did not call Wade a liar. It was commenting on Wade's campaign ads, some of which do present dubious interpretations of the fact, especially as they pertain to the water supply.

And since the editor will not publish anything negative about the " machine", the de facto Mayor Joe Williams and identity politices in Greensboro I will put up the link again.

More bias or just my imagination?
Let's attribute as coincidence that Carmany got an A1 picture on Saturday and the most desired location for her ad in Sunday's paper. (A13 top right corner where paper splits)
But here is a specific question. You state in your most recent endorsement that one reason to vote for Carmany is "Through Sandy's Place, her well-read and well-respected blog, Carmany may be the council member most in touch with the public."
Over the past month (the peak of the campaign season) Carmany has 35 posts with 18 individuals commenting. I just wondered what criteria the N&R uses to justify "well-read" since her blog has no hit counter.
I'm not disputing your description. I just wondered how you came to that conclusion.
You make one heck of a campaign manager Allen, although you don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
I guess we'll know Tuesday night if you guys are the pulse of the community or are completely out of touch with it.

Tony:
Our mission in the endorsement process is not necessarily to pick winners but to recommend the people we consider the best choices for an office.
This is not NCAA Final Four brackets in an office pool. Or at least it shouldn't be where endorsements are concerned.
You may or may not be right about Sandy's readership of her blog. I don't know.
It is very well read in the blogging community, by all indications, but probably gets its biggest exposure by being read and cited by other bloggers.
