Obama and Wright and fairness and context
Are you among those who wonder, as I do, whether the brief excerpts of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, played over and over and over like the Zapruder film, dramatically lacked context?,
Richard Prince of the Maynard Institute offers this insightful post.Follow his links to other writers, whose thoughtful reactions add a lot more substance to what has been a distressingly shallow discussion.

Detective Mark Furhman's career and reputation was destroyed by "excerpts" of him using the "N-word" from a couple of telephone calls to someone he was trying to impress and talk into buying his stories. Nobody remembered over 20 years of service as an outstanding police officer before the ill-fated conversations.
I believe that when Rev. Wright proclaims, "G** D*** America!!" to his congregation and spews racial hate over and over and over for years he is NOT being taken out of context, rather his true feelings are being exemplified by his statements.
So if you absolve Rev. Wright of his guilt, you must also absolve the Mark Fuhrman's of the world. Are you ready to do that?

When people begin sentences with "all whites,"
"all blacks," "all gays," "all teenagers," "all men," "all women" or "all illegal immigrants," among others, we're in trouble. When I hear someone start a sentence with one of these phrases, or something similar, I know I am most likely not going to agree with that person, no matter what race or gender they are. These statements are rooted in fear, frustration, or anger. They are used incite and divide people and most of the time they are mean-spirited. Worst of all, they label and depersonalize human beings. It's this kind of thinking that shuts down all avenues of communicating. It's this kind of thinking that starts wars.

I have other problems with Obama.
Why did Michelle Obama get a $200,000 raise/promotion from her employer when her husband became senator?
I think if this had happened to Bill Clinton it would be thoroughly questioned.
Obama then earmarked $1 million for her employer -University of Chicago Hospital--which was not granted by the senate.
This raise and its timing would rub MANY Americans the wrong way.
