Early prognostications.
I spent some time this week after one interview with a Republican candidate discussing (for what it's worth) what I was going to happen in this year's election.
Here are some first-blush predicitons:
1. McCain wins North Carolina but loses the election. I just don't see North Carolina turning blue, even this year.
2. McCrory breaks the Charlotte jinx and becomes governor. Perdue has run a mushy, uninspiring campaign
3. Hagan upsets Dole in a squeaker. Dole seems to generate very little fire from many Republicans I've talked to.
4. The sales tax increase passes ... and maybe two of the city bonds. The street improvement bonds definitely will be one of them because people want those roads fixed.

I think you are wrong, the illegals and 14 year old vote, and the folks that vote many times, will make state all democrat. Acron, has done a great job of making the election a fraud. The good ole boys in Raleigh assured this, when they got the liberal media, and wacko liberal college professors, to shout down voter ID cards.
If the media, would tell the truth about Hagan, even her mother would vote against. I urge voters to check her liberal voting record. her stance on eminent domain. Want me to tell you what happens when the good ole boys met in Raleigh in 2009?

According to some people who would know, War Memorial and the Sales tax have no chance. Transportation, P&R and Housing are the only bonds that have any chance of passing.

4 is wrong. Sales tax will be defeated. Roads will pass. If it says roads, fire stations, or schools, it's pointless to put it on the ballot since those words automatically mesmerize the citizenry into a zombie-like stupor: ". . . must . . . have. . . roads." Plus, the road bond is a bond, not a tax. People won't vote for tax increases. Only bonds.
1 or 3 will be wrong, probably 1. If NC goes for McCain, I can't see a signficant chunk splitting off to give the Democrats a supermajority. But 1 seems unlikely, especially if Republicans (well-known for their civic integrity, charitable contributions, and good looks) limit themselves to one ballot per person.
