Allen, I attribute this to straight-ticket voting and people coming to the polls to vote in the presidential race without really understanding the issues in the governor's race. Politics aside, the people of Charlotte shot themselves in the foot here.
Perdue ran on an anti-Charlotte platform. It's strange that a politician would hold such disdain for a city in her state. It's even stranger that that particular city would support her. So when Charlotte contiunes to find itself at the bottom of the DOT's road improvement list, it will have no one to blame but itself.
Forget about Democrats vs. Republicans - it's about the "Down East" cabal versus the Piedmont.
