Steele the one?

DeWayne Wickham of USA Today, who also is a faculty member at N.C. A&T, has good things to say about the new chairman of the GOP, Michael Steele.

Wickham directs the Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies at A&T. He has a blog, too, rright here.

I think that Wickham is dead on in his analysis of Michael Steele. I went to college in Maryland and think that Steele was a great Lt. Governor and made an excellent Senate candidate...he was just representing the wrong party. Steele is a centrist at heart and Republican in name only. His views line up with the majority of the country and he will need to stand up to the religious right if the Republican party has any hope of "righting the ship".

An interesting side note to Steele being elected Head of the GOP...David Duke is leaving the GOP because he feels Michael Steele is a black racist...wow!

When Michael Steel ran for the senate from Maryland in 06' he was villified by the same groups that told us we were racist if we didn't vote for Obama.

The black's and white liberals deserted him despite the fact that he was to Ben Cardin as Tiger Woods is to Phil Mickleson! His unsconscionable treatment during the campaign, and election, was similar to case when Lynn Swann ran for governor of Pa., as both got most of their support from conservatives, and working class whites.

These were the same people the buffoon Murhta called racists, and rednecks, while their white, liberal opponents were heavily supported by white liberals, and of course, the same blacks who threw away all common sense when O'Bummer hit the scene.

As for Steele being another John McCain, forget it. He is a rock ribbed, but pragmatic, conservative. He's been on the air, radio and tv numerous times with Sean Hannity, and with Rush. He is 100% against this dishonest "stimulus" package, and has criticized the Siamese twins from Maine (Snowe and Collins) for their votes, saying they were concerned about their re-election (how un-American is that!) in our version of the Soviet Union, New England, which is worse than Old England was when we kicked their butts!

Steele is much more a conservative than was George Bush with his Campaign Finance support, the largest influx of taxpayer dollars the Dept of Education (an oxymoron), the "Amnesty" legislation for illegals, a massive outlay of tax dollars to fight AIDs in Africa, ceding our soverignty to the UN by signing the Law of the Seas treaty, and, and giving us the massive Medicare prescription plan. And Bush was described as a "far right winger" by the left!

theGreatGatsby made me laugh. How wonderful it will be that David Duke and his ink desert the Republicans. I hope they drop off a cliff in self pity. Maybe they will form the I am a Repubic Supremist Party and get defeated beyond our imaginaz-ions forever. Christine
