A Helping Hand

How far would you go to help a friend in need?
About 600 miles, said about 15 High Point electric workers that headed to Florida to help a former city leader recover from Hurricane Frances.
The city workers headed to Leesburg to help the city's utility director, Lloyd Shank restore power.
Shank was High Point's electric director for about 20 years. In July 2000, Shank left for the position in Florida.


High Point crews were also joined by more than 100 electric workers from nine cities across North Carolina, said Larry Yates, High Point's electric director.
The crews are working to help some of the cities hit the hardest by Frances such as Lakeland, Fort Pierce, Gainesville, Vero Beach and Leesburg.
