Growth and taxes
To Guilford County taxpayers upset about the tax increase passed by the county commissioners last month:
You're not alone.
Forty-five North Carolina counties raised property taxes for the 2005-06 fiscal year, according to the N.C. Association of County Commissioners. Nineteen of those counties hiked tax rates by at least 10 percent.
The commissioners' association blames the increases on population growth and a state policy that requires counties to help pay for the Medicaid program.
But not all taxpayers will see their tax bills go up. Half of the state's 100 counties saw no tax rate change, and taxes in five counties actually went down.

King Skip Alston and his democrat clowns have stolen so much money from taxpayers they needed a tax increase. Probably all of the clowns will keep their seat in the next election.Mr Parks has allready said he wanted to be Skips house boy.

Nate,
In the print version of "The Inside Scoop," I read the article titled "One more time" (July 18).
That article included this statement: "Alston said he has run unopposed for his past two, two-year terms."
I do not believe that quote is accurate.
I made a post about it on my blog.
If I am correct, can a correction be included in the next print version of "The Inside Scoop"?
It might also be interesting to ask Alston about this.
Sincerely,
Hardy
