I hope the City Council does not feel it necessary to endorse each of the many requests for projects to be included in the regrettably expected bond referendum. This sort of exercise seems to entice different groups to throw their projects on the table in the hopes of getting the taxpayers to support them. Your press reports did not indicate that folks seemed to be very concerned about whether such projects are appropriate for support by the taxpayers at large.

Tony,
Based on conversations I've had with most of the council members, I doubt you'll see all the projects mentioned Tuesday during that public hearing on the ballot in November. (I'm working on a story handicapping the prospects of many of these projects). And many of those projects may get less money than they were initially hoping for.
The people advocating for these projects feel like the taxpayers should support them - otherwise I doubt they'd get up there. Of course, you and your fellow city residents get the final say.
