Greensboro101 resignations

UPDATE: Ovittore blogs his resignation. So does Sue.

Four members of the Greensboro101 advisory board have resigned over the posting of the RMA report on the Web site, according to two former members.

According to Sue Polinsky and Cara Michele Forrest, they resigned from the board during a hastily called meeting today. They said Jay Ovittore and Ben Hwang also resigned.

Polinsky and Forrest said they were concerned about possible legal ramifications for publishing the report. Polinsky and Forrest say they have declined to read the report on principle.

"This is not good for Greensboro," Polinsky said of the appearance of the report online.

Wow, and I had just the opposite inclination. I thought it might be time to sign up for that editorial board.

I thought that all of the "Converging" that the blogging community engaged in last weekend was about independence, transparency, and putting it on the line so some walls would fall.

Resigning because of some potential "legal ramifications" seems paranthetical to storming a wall or two.

So. This some involved in this fledgling "citizen media" thing folds under the first real weight it encounters? Very dissappointing.

Nominate me to fill your position on your way out, please.

They have valid concerns about lawsuits in today's society. Fine. They have principles they want to stand behind. Fine. Especially from the left;) . They were not consulted on this major issue as the editorial board, nor were their concerns heard. Roch decided to keep it available. Fine. Let's not make this out to be some great schism. No animosity involved. Just pragmatism.

I was reading the Inside Scoop this morning and saw where it was mentioned that either Pricey Harrison or Ron Styers were going to the Irving Park Neighborhood to do some campaigning. They certainly can do that, but its not in the district they are running in. If I am not mistaken that is in district 59, currently held by Maggie Jeffus and challenged by Jim Rumley.
