TDBS wants the corner office
Greensboro City Council member Dianne Bellamy-Small didn't want to play by the rules Tuesday, when her fellow board members were picking offices.
Here's what happened:
Workers are in the process of creating individual offices for the council members, something they haven't had in recent history. Previously, they had shared small work stations.
Anyway, the council members had to decide on a process for divying up the space. Ever the problem solver, Florence Gatten decided members would draw numbers to determine the selection order.
Bellamy-Small refused to draw. She said she wanted the corner office. Period.
Mayor Keith Holliday tried to reason with her, explaining that other members might want that corne office, too, and the only fair way to decide would be to draw numbers.
Bellamy-Small still refused.
"We've got a process," Goldie Wells said, in her loud "I-am-very-passionate-about-this-issue" voice. "You go with the process!"
Bellamy-Small: "Just forget it. Forget it!"
Then emerged an unlikely hero - Tom Phillips. He had drawn a low number, and with his early pick secured the corner office for Bellamy-Small.
"I put Dianne's name in my spot, because I don't care," he said.
And thus endeth the Great Corner Office War of 2007.

Margaret,
Unfortunately, even with Tom's best peacekeeping efforts, the Great Corner Office War of 2007 may NOT be over -- wrong corner office! TDBS wanted the OTHER corner office -- the one in the FAR corner chosen by Mayor Pro Tem Groat. We'l just have to wait and see.

I hope Tom rubs it in Small's face often.

Are you serious? Bickering about a corner office? Sheesh. I say: if people can't even resolve a simple thing like where to sit in an office, give them their shared workstations back.
Talk about acting like a child.

This women never ceases to amaze me ! If she is a community leader, I can go out back and cut you some off trees.
She is a complete embarrasment to our City and is a lousy role model for our youth and future civic leaders. Where in the world did the voters in her district find her? Only in America !

Hey, I'm in her district and I didn't choose her. But we haven't had many good choices since we lost Sandy to redistricting.

Just maybe she will not have any office after the next election. If I were her opponent, I would bring this childish behavior to light. Be happy to hold office Mrs Small. For it might not be long until your on the outside looking in.

Corner office should be large enough for additional document storage and any surplus lie detectors.

Bellamy Small - I can't STAND you. You are one of the WORST public "servants" I've ever had the DISpleasure of hearing about. You disgust me!

Will Mitch Johson send her a check, because she didn"t get the office she wanted.

Perhaps the entire community would be better served if she of questionable moral and ethical values were assigned a corner office that has bars on it, as so richly deserves.
Laurie?
You could vote for anyone else and it would be a change at least. Sure couldn't do any worse, hey?
But then again, anyone who doesn't vote for her will be declared a racist, so you would have the cross to bear.

Laurie,
Why not organize a recall effort? You would only need 700+ signatures from District 1.
