Why Paul Gibson stopped blogging

He just doesn't want to.

The Guilford County commissioners chairman says he doesn't read blogs, and isn't interested in maintaining his own. His first post, on May 15, was also his last.

"I realized very quickly that that was going to turn into a 'he said, she said' kind of thing," he told me last week. "And I'll tell you what, I don't have time to do that."

He also mentioned Democratic rival Skip Alston, who, as far as I know, is the only blogging commissioner.

"I just don't feel the need to start blogging," Gibson said. "And I don't want to get into a blogging contest with Skip or anybody else."

So if you want to catch up with him, you'll have to do it some other way.

"Pick up the phone," he said, "and call me."

It's too bad that Gibson decided to measure the value of his participation by the actions of others.

He could have stood as his own man with some curiosity about how he could use this popular tool as a way to better communicate with his consituents.

Instead, the oneous is on me to "call him?" Thanks Paul for being proactive in engaging the community you represent. Very forward thinking.
