Of course the U.S. wins
As long as NBC is waving the stars and stripes and ignoring everything that lacks an American presence, it's reasonable to provide some context.
No nation on this planet has the combination of wealth and population that America has. Of course "we" win a bunch of medals. "We" should. Take the top 20 richest countries as measured by per-capita income. The USA has more people than the total population of the other 19 wealthiest nations. (America is third on the list, by the way.)Baseball, which lacks an American presence, is being broadcast by an NBC person named Matt Vasgersian.

Of course, China is No. 2 in the medal count with an ever-so-slightly larger population than the U.S. I won't get into what that says about China's economic system that it isn't in the top 20 of per-capita wealthiest nations.

What's wrong with a man of proud Armenian heritage like Matt Vasgersian broadcasting Olympic baseball. And what channel is that on, anyway? Haven't seen it. Probably because the U.S. isn't in it.
While we're on the subject of medals, here's a stumper for you. Explain to me why India, the second most populous country in the world, wins about as many medals in the Olympics as Luxembourg. (Maybe less, actually.) I know wealth is a factor, but doesn't having a pool of 800 million (maybe higher) potential athletes increase your odds just a little?
