Oh Ricky, You're Not So Fine
Only in America. Where else can you make a cool profit off of someone's hurt feelings?
That's what a company called Colossoul Designs is doing. They've created a t-shirt in the wake of Ricky Williams' sudden retirement from the Miami Dolphins. According to the company's press release, the t-shirt has "A doctored picture of Ricky Williams smoking a hand rolled cigarette." Oh, and it also features an obscenity directed at Williams. Three guesses as to what it is ...
Granted, Williams has come across at best as a loopy pothead and at worst as a whiny manipulator in the whole fiasco. But is this sort of thing really necessary? If you're a Dolphin fan, does it make you feel any better if you shell out the money to get this shirt?
Take the hypothetical another step. What if it was your favorite team and your favorite player (say, Carolina with Stephen Davis, or Washington with Clinton Portis) suddenly left you in the lurch. Would you want to make such public displays of your disatisfaction? Would it help heal the wounds at all?

Is it necessary? NO.
Either was leaving your team with no other option at running back, lying repeatedly to the media and team, insinuating that others used drugs like he does without naming names therefore leaving a cloud over the team and league.
What happened to being a team?
Caring about your teamates? your fans?
First he said he was searching for truth, then i was a 3rd failed drug test, then it was a team direction problem and FINALLY.....MONEY. He wanted a new contract, and didn't want to run as much. When asked by his former coach why he didn't try to communicate these things before abruptly retiring he said something to the effect of "I guess I need to work on that."
Many players love playing for the Dolphins, love the city, the fans, but not Ricky. Good riddance.
Feel free to buy a shirt at www.rickytshirt.com
