Burning down the house(s)
They blew up -- rather, imploded -- the old Burlington Industries headquarters in west Greensboro this morning. Sorry I missed it. The 34-year-old glass building inside a steel shell was an oddly hideous sight, not an architectural marvel as some would contend. Fortunately, the N&R has provided a replay of the great earth-shattering kaboom here.
One building we don't want to see imploded is historic Reynolds Coliseum on the N.C. State campus. Unfortunately, a blown transformer tried to take her out. At last check, a fire was still burning in the basement.

What a great building Reynolds Coliseum is. Since it is mostly stone and steel, it should be fine, but the basement is loaded with flammable items.
On a few nights camping out for basketball tickets, I found a way into the basement. It involved a door into a boiler room and several dangerous moves to get to the court....where we played through most of the night.
I had to go through the basement, which housed batting cages, spare goal posts, tons of extra uniforms, etc. It could burn for a while and would be hard to get water to the area.
This much you can be sure. If they tried to implode the David Thompson's house, there would be several other buildings on fire at that campus.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt and the main arena was left unharmed. Herb Sendek was among those evacuated from a neighboring building.
It would indeed be a grave tragedy if we were to lose Reynolds to a fire or demolition or implosion. The building has been home to a lot of basketball history.
