What's it about Charlottesville in the fall?
Yes, the Grounds are gorgeous when the leaves start turning. But that's not what I mean.
As most North Carolina football fans can tell you, the Heels haven't won in C'ville in a long, long time. Last win there was 1981, the end of the Dick Bestwick era, as a matter of fact. Next visit is '06.
But I was surprised to see the UNC men's soccer team hasn't won at UVa since 1977, back when Anson Dorrance was coaching the Heels' men. They get another shot at it this weekend at Klockner Stadium. UNC is 7-0-0 and ranked No. 2 in the nation. Virginia, not nearly the powerhouse it was under Bruce Arena, is 6-1-1 and ranked 11th.

What is it about College Park in the fall?

That's what I'd like to know. How do you give up 45 points to a team that didn't score that many all last season (OK, slight exaggeration)? My first thought was this is just like UNC in C'ville: the Cavs just never play well in College Park. But then I remembered they won 45-0 up there in '97. So that -- and no Ahmad Brooks -- can't possibly explain getting run over for 575 total yards.
To follow up on my original point, the Heels dropped the soccer game up there 2-0 Saturday.

I'm wondering where the Terps came from? I know, Wake Forest was certainly a winnable game, but playing the Cavs, I think, is in the same realm of playing West Virginia -- having to play tough to ge a win.
I wonder what Raleigh's like in the fall, expecially after losing to UNC and only gaining 13 yards on the ground. I think App. State or Georgia Southern could beat the 'Pack on an off. year. Heck, why don't they schedule The Citadel? I'm sure the Bulldogs could use a win.
