I'll have to make this quick because I spent a little too much time on the pre-game meatloaf - yes, meatloaf- before the game.
I'm going with State in this game, chiefly because of what I saw in the Pack's win over GW. The Colonials - like the Heels - are a team that loves to run and does it well. But State took them out of that and GW flounders. I think UNC does better than GW, but I'm still not sold on the Heels' half-court offense.
Final score - State 77, UNC 72.
Of course, if Cedric Simmons gets in early foul trouble, all bets are off.

Actually, I tried to post a similar prediction right before tipoff Saturday but apparently forgot to switch "draft" to "publish" on our web-posting program. Oops. So I'll dump on myself as well: I expected better point-guard play from the Wolfpack and was skeptical about the Heels' execution in a half-court game. I'd predicted a 69-61 State win. Well, at least I got the 69 part right.

Jeff, awfully nice of you to own up to your equally errant prediction.
I may become the new anti-Jimmy the Greek. Take whatever prediction I make and go the other way.
Here's where I think I went awry. I underestimated how much the boisterous home crowd would energize the young Heels. Also, I was surprised by how easily UNC was able to penetrate State's half-court defense off the dribble.
