The Heels congratulate Mack
And we thought there were hard feelings when Mack Brown bolted Chapel Hill for Texas eight years ago. This congratulatory note was posted at UNC's athletics Web site today following Texas' 41-38 national-championship victory over Southern Cal last night.
Kudos also went out to Mack's many former Tar Heel assistants who are now with him in Austin, where, thanks to the wondrous Rose Bowl play of QB Vince Young, Brown will no longer show up on the BCTNWTBO lists.

I noticed in todays paper your headline read 9 seconds in the texas game when Vince Young scored. But the article said 19 seconds.. A mistake?

That definitely sounds like a mistake in the subhead. It would've heightened the drama even more if so, but I recall there were 19-20 seconds left when Young scored.

You know, I never understood why so many Carolina fans were glad to get rid of Mack Brown. Plenty of UNC fans acted like Brown was an anchor on the program and practically packed his bags for him.
The reality was that Brown was the best coach Carolina ever had. They went 20-3 in his last two years in Chapel Hill and were in the national Top 10. Since he left, they've been well below .500.
I guess no one can say, "Mack Brown can't win the big one" any more.
