I throughly disagree with the choices for best band. I fill as Northwest was overlooked. They are the BEST band in the county as well as a one of the top bands in the state. Last year the MARCHING band won three grand champions as well as a spirit award in our competitions. The year before last we were invited to a competition at the OUtback Bowl in Tampa, Florida. We won that competition and got to perform part of our show at pre game. This year we were invited to the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, Arizona. Were we will compete against bands from across the nation and march in a parade were we will be judged on our marching, music, general effect, percussion, color guard, and drum major. This year we have 120 members in our band and hope to win grand champion in the several competitions we will compete in our the state as well as one in the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.

Unlike Brett, I didn't have a strong opinion on the Best Non-Dudley Band. Remember halftimes are when sportswriters are totalling up stats or inhaling hotdogs, not watching bands.

I did have a few opinions on some of the other categories, and I thought I'd share my vote with you, oh loyal blog readers.

Harest place to win a game: Wildcat Stadium at Eastern Randolph. The place usually has 3,000 plus fans spilling out of the stands and ringing the field. Oh, and the team's not bad either. (I've never been to Cushwa Stadium, but I hear that's rough as well)

Best looking helmet: Northwest Guilford. Michigan's Wolverine helmet with a red twist. Nice.

Best rivalry: High Point Central v. High Point Andrews. Both teams are good. Both have student bodies that care and alums that might care even more. It's the big game in town. Everything a rivalry should be.

Most overrated rivalry: Sorry Grimsley fans, but until you can beat Page with more regularity - and hey, that may be changing - it's still hard to really call your annual game with Page a "rivalry".

Best new rivalry (within past five years): Cummings v. Reidsville. Not much of the neighborhood element, but just the sheer amount of talent that's on the field, as well as the usual passing pyrotechnics that usually lead to high scores makes this THE game in 2-A football.

Best nickname: Asheboro Blue Comets. Hey, Comets was cool enough. But a Blue Comet? Now that's really special.

Worst nickname: Tie between all the teams that took the name Cougars, Wildcats or Tigers. C'mon guys, try a little originality.

Most underated program: Western Alamance. Sandwiched between the big-name Greensboro schools and the Cummings-Williams rivalry, Hal Capps and Co. have quietly been churning out the double-digit win seasons.
