Newman got punked
The most disappointed person after Saturday night's Darlington race other than me was ... wait for it ... Ryan Newman.
Me, I'm trying to escape the basement of my fantasy NASCAR league, and Newman's on my team. Newman's first-to-fifth slide cost me 20 points, which leaves me 762 points out of first rather than a more respectable 742.
Of course, Newman was actually the guy piloting the No. 12, and there probably are fewer things frustrating as a driver to know that a guy is going to go sailing by you like Greg Biffle did and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. So what would you have done if you had been sitting behind the wheel of the No. 12?
More thoughts:
* Ken Schrader knows better than Newman about tire wear. He went off second on the restart with two laps left. He finished 18th.
* Michael Waltrip and Jeff Green should know better. Especially since both need to run better to keep their jobs.
* Glad to see the return of the old Kurt Busch. The new version that Roush rolled out this season was just no fun.

I love the hindsight, RD. ;)
Saturday night, I remember watching the race and thinking Newman had made the right call, especially when Ken Schrader lined up behind him.
The right thing to do 1, The Spotter 0.

One more thing I'd like to add: GREG BIFFLE TOOK 4 TIRES!!!! It was pissing me off when FOX kept saying he got 2 tires. I watched the footage! He was first in, second out (because Edwards got 2). I mean, is it that much of a surprise he beat the 24 team out???

The only thing better would have been if Rusty had spun out to cause the caution and it cost Newman the race.
Someone should have told Rusty it was Tony Danza in that go-cart the other day and not Ryan.

@ Matt: Yeah, I noticed Fox's gaffe, too. Inexcusable.
@ Mark: The conspiracy theorists claim that Mark Martin spun himself out intentionally. As for the DayTony incident, I think Rusty would wreck any and all of his relatives to win a race. (Danza was leading, I think.)
