Le Tour
Indulge me for a minute.
I like cycling. I love the Tour de France, which starts tomorrow.
Why should you care? Let me see if I can break it down into NASCAR terms.
It's France's version of Speed Weeks, except that the whole race adds up to one Daytona 500.
I'll post some on the Tour in July. Yeah, I know you're expecting all-NASCAR-most-of-the-time around here. But it's July, and I'm much more amped about the Tour than I am about Chicagoland or a return trip to Pocono (zzzzzz ...)

Yes, I think Armstrong can win Lucky No. 7. I thought he could win No. 6 last year, and that was arguably ... no, not arguably, actually ... his best Tour of the six he's won.
Anyone think differently? Does anyone care?

I equate the tour to a restrictor plate race. You have the teammates working together, with one franchise guy and everyone else blocking/helping him.

Does this mean little E would have a better shot with the #8 in France?

Hey John,
You heard Robby offered Lance a Dakar co-driver spot if Lance wants it?

You can also click the button on the News & Record's home page that says "Live Tracker" to follow the race.

Carrie: No, I hadn't heard that. I'll see if I can track that one down. It wouldn't surprise me if Armstrong did it. I don't think he's got much experience behind the wheel of a race car, but he's willing to take some risks.

Update for Carrie: Run "Lance Armstrong" and Dakar through Google (like I did), and the first result you should get is a two-month-old piece from Velo News. Apparently it's no rumor -- there appears to be an offer on the table for Lance to be Robby's co-driver. Whether Lance takes it is anyone's guess. I can't see him racing Dakar unless he gets to actually drive the car.

Hey John,
All I know about the offer was it was solely made for Lance to be a co-driver/navigator. I'm sure Robby would let him drive one or twice so long as it didn't get them DQ'd and didn't jeopardize the race (maybe on the travel days?).
I think it would be an awesome deal for Robby considering Lance could bring the Discovery Channel on board as a sponsor.
