Silly season, July 15 edition
Michael Waltrip won't be back with DEI in 2006.
That story puts the capital S in Silly Season. This news just -- pardon my language -- sucks.

The strong rumor I've heard is that Mikey is headed to either the 2 car or the 6 car. To me, it makes sense in the 6 for a year, then he goes to Toytota, and NAPA stays to sponsor McMurray.

Matt: After seeing your guy spin out earlier in the race, my first thought was -- and I kid you not - was "Ha, Matt! Dustin was right!"
But doggone if Kurt Busch didn't drive his way back to the front. How he does it, I have no idea.

John, you call yourself a reporter???
How could you miss the news over on Jayski's that NASCAR would like to see Britney Spears in an ownership role?? And that it is possible in a partnership with Carl Haas and Cal Wells.
Please let me know when this happens so I can stop watching any future races.

Actually, Mark, I call myself an editor. (Technically, my business card says "assistant sports editor.") And one of my many roles as a middle manager is a gatekeeper -- I help decide what gets in the daily Sports section and what stays out.
And had I known about this Spears-Haas connection (I don't read Mr. Trial Balloon in the Winston paper all that often, mostly because he can't seemed to be bothered to attribute anything to anyone), I would have slammed the gate shut on that bit of news.
But if anyone goes on the record with this potential bit of news, you'll know I know because when you try to find this blog all you'll get is a 404 error page. ;)

John, my business card says Vice President, but I go and get the mail and do the bank deposit everyday.
What is a "404 error"? Is it anything like a DNF?

A 404 error is the ol' "site not found" error. So, yeah, I guess it's the online equivalent of a DNF.
