The rumors aren't true
Unlike, say, Ricky Rudd, who's mum on his 2006 plans for now, I will not be driving the No. 8 car last year.
However, I might be tempted to try to beat Earnhardt's time. Wrangler is bringing to town one of its racing simulators (High Point on Wednesday, Eden on Thursday), and anyone who gets behind the wheel of this thing will get a chance to beat one of Junior's saved scores. More details after the jump.
Speaking of fast, make sure you check out the new blog written by Matt, one of our regular and long-time commenters. He's tearing it up over at AOL at The Catfish Show. Scroll down to his entry from last Wednesday to check Matt's close encounter with Paul Menard's hauler. Btw, Matt, it looks like your old friend Bob Brevek has moved into an ownership role in the Truck Series.
Here's an excerpt from the press release I got:
What: Local residents can test their skills behind the wheel in a realistic NASCAR simulator vehicle. The Wrangler® virtual test drive simulator mimicks the simulators NASCAR drivers practice on between races. Earnhardt Jr. himself went for a spin on the simulator and saved his score for fans to race against. The "Wrangler Race Fever" experience straps speed-seekers in an updated version of the classic yellow and blue Wrangler Jean Machine driven by legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. during the 1980’s.
Cost: Nothing; it's free
Where: At these Wal-Mart stores:
Wednesday: 2710 N. Main St., High Point, 2-8 p.m.
Thursday: 304 E. Arbor Lane, Eden, 2-8 p.m.
Friday: 4524 Challenger Drive, Roanoke, 2-8 p.m.
Saturday: 4807 Valley View NW, Roanoke, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Sunday: 2400 N. Franklin St., Christiansburg, Va., 12-6 p.m.

You're not gonna be in the 8? Oh well. This blogging thing is pretty cool.

What's with everyone migrating over to AOL?
Must be the latest fad.

And Fantasia says there is nothing to do in High Point.

Yes. It's the latest fad. Must maintain the whole..."If one jumps, we all jump." mantra.
#8 simulator at a Wal-Mart? Now, there's a coincidence. :-|

Sadly, though, if Junior's simulated performance is anything like his real-life performance this year, expect every other person behind the fake wheel to beat his time.
Sigh.

Well John, it could be worse.
1) A #0 Mike Bliss Sim.
2) A Green Screen Sim, where you must mimick the monotone sounds of Bill Weber and screw-ups of BP.
3) The #15 Michael Waltrip Sim...in order to win, you must rattle of your sponsors in appropriate time, while driving...and doing your hair (Aqua Net a must).
