Chip Williams

He's in a lot of trouble, according to this story we posted online this afternoon.

Williams is a former NASCAR PR director who has his own shop. He's obviously well known around the NASCAR garage. I've never met him, but Dustin Long and Ed Hardin both know him from their years on the beat.

Sounds like now Williams will have to draw deeply on his self-proclaimed "ability to handle difficult situations at difficult times."

I have known Chip for about 15 years or so. He and I have had many run-ins over work related issues. Chip always treated most everyone like they were inferior to him.

I also know his mother-in-law and brother-in-law, both still working in the racing business. They are awesome people.

I now find it hard to dislike Chip like I used to, as he is obviously very sick. I feel for the young folks he has molested and I feel for his wife and children. This is a sickness I just cannot relate to, in any way.

I doubt Chip will ever see daylight much again. The fellas in the big house do not look at child molesters with much favor.

I first met Chip at Dover in 1988 with my friend Pam. He was so gracious to us. He always gave me passes to every race I went to at Dover and Richmond. He even came to Maryland where I live to take me out for my birthday while he was looking at tracks in VA. I've been out of the racing life for quite a while it seems. I just tried to locate him at Dover since I'm going there on Sunday. It was not until I googled him that I just read this info. I am in total shock. I will pray for his family and victims. I will also pray for Chip. This is truley sad!!!
