IROC
So Tony Stewart won his second straight race last night. It wasn't a Cup event - it was IROC.
I don't have the Speed Channel at home, so I didn't see the race. Did any of you?
I mean, is this racing any good? Does anyone care enough to watch?
I'm intrigued by the concept of pitting drivers from one series against another. But I thought the event is always biased toward the Cup guys - it's their tracks and their cars, more or less. The few times I've watched it, it's hard to tell which pastel-colored car belongs to which driver. I'm the guy who sees the blue No. 2 on Sunday and still thinks "Rusty Wallace."
So what am I missing on the IROC front? Anything?

I enjoy IROC when I get to see it. Only 4 races a year, so its easy to keep up with who does what. The problem with the cars was changed last year, as the drivers competing keep the same number/color pattern on the cars throughout the year. The cars usually stay close together, its good racing I think.

Your right Matt. Great racing will all cars prepared the same leaving winning to the skill of the driver and a tad bit of racing luck.

I haven't had a chance to see the event the last few years due to my current residence in the Philippines, however I was always a fan of the series.
I agree the oval drivers have an advantage but it wasn't always that way. When the series first started it was more competitive between the different disciplines.
Adding the Daytona road course this year was a step towards returning it back to those times.
Maybe you can verify this John.
I saw a small note on the FoxSports photo gallery page. The photo was Stewart in the IROC winners circle. The small, and as yet not verified blurb, said Stewart promised to give $1 million prize if he wins the IROC championship to the promoters of IROC.
In return they have agreed to hold one of next years IROC events at Tony's dirt half mile Eldora Speedway.
As I said, I have noted no other reference to this, including Eldora's website.
Maybe with your vast resources you can dig something up. And maybe if it happens Steven Kinser can complete a race and not be on his lid.

I love watching IROC. I love to see the mix of different series drivers all together. I do try to watch it when I can.

Maybe I am missing something. Not enough to give $30 more to TWC every month. Here, Speed is on digital cable. Another reason for a la carte pricing ...
Marc: If you can type "www.google.com" you have access to nearly everything I have. ;)
Seriously, I googled and got this three paragraph story at thatsracin.com from Friday that says Stewart is trying to get IROC to come to his dirt track.
The driver with the most points after four races gets the $1 million, so Stewart doesn't have it yet.

Tony brought up the idea in VL, the Signore's agreed but only if he wins the championship this year and gives them the prize money. I suppose we'll have to wait to see if Tony wins to see if they were all serious about it.
