The last time the Busch Series pulled into Martinsville, it was the fall of 1994, or nearly 12 years ago.
Okay, close your eyes and think back to 1994. (Just pretend to close your eyes - otherwise you won't be able to read this.) Remember what racing was like back then? Don't remember? Okay, prepare for your mind to be blown.
After the jump, of course ...
So here's your 1994 in a nutshell:
* Dale Earnhardt was on his way to winning his seventh Cup championship
* Your final top 10 in points: Earnhardt, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, Ken Schrader, Ricky Rudd, Morgan Shepherd, Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Darrell Waltrip and Bill Elliott.
* If you read the above note too quickly, note that Jeff Gordon finished two spots behind Morgan Shepherd and four spots behind Ken Schrader.
* Your Busch Series top five: David Green, Ricky Craven, Chad Little, Kenny Wallace and Hermie Sadler
* North Wilkesboro and Rockingham both had two races. Tracks west of the Mississippi had two races.
* Richard Petty had been retired two years.
* Ken Schrader was only three seasons removed from his most recent Cup victory. (It's now 15.)
* And here is the finishing order of the last Busch race run at Martinsville. See how many of those drivers you know. (I got 20 of 36, and I'll admit to scoring on a wicked curve.)

I could get 32 of 36; Chapman, Payne, and a couple of others I could not place. Several in the 2nd half of the pack still race today in Hooters Pro Cup.
In the 80's and early 90's this weekend in the fall in the weekend in the spring used to have the best racing of all; a split between Busch and Modifieds.
The race this weekend needs to be a night race, that track will be unbearable for drivers, crews, and fans. Good luck.
