I see dead race cars
Lots and lots of them, in fact: 14 DNFs Saturday night at Charlotte, 3-4 other cars that had no business being out on the track. (Results here.)
One question for Mark Martin, who went airborne after hitting J.J. Yeley and then the wall: If the guy in front of you is trying to get into the pits, wouldn't it make sense to pass him on the outside? Just asking. But at least Martin is having fun.

Ed Hardin writes about NASCAR's new villain, Brian Vickers.
Speaking of dead race cars, Juan Pablo Montoya killed his ARCA car, then brought it back to life. Not bad for a rookie.

I think there was a problem with steering wheels on Saturday night. Several unexplained cases of cars just turning into other cars.

Yeley was in the middle of the track THEN decided to pit. He was like a 18 year old high school girl talking on her cell phone, then almost missing the Starbucks on the left to get a latte. Mark was just getting to full speed coming through the turns.

Matt was watching the same race I was.

Even if Yeleys pit was planned, how was Mark Martin supposed to see a dark glove in the dark going 175+ coming out of turn 4? Martin saw Kenseth pass on the inside so he figured he'd do the same. Yeley should have been on the bottom in the middle of the turn if he was coming into pit. Why was he in the middle of the track in turn 4? Thats the million dollar question. Another bonehead move that drastically affected a Chase contender.

Let's take this one step further...Yeley claimed that his pit was planed, o.k. I'll bite on that for a second, but only a second. I agree, he should have been feeding on the line setting himself up to hit pit lane, and waving his hand like he was on fire. IF he was doing that, then Kenseth would have passed on the outside and Martin would have more than likely done the same. But wait...Kenseth passed on the inside, the bottom, which means Yeley was high enough for a clean pass to be made. O.K. so far so good, now Yeley is clear to move down from THE MIDDLE to set up to enter the pits and his spotter...Um...wait, what was his spotter doing and where was he looking when the #6 entered turn 3? I may be slow, but don't you think that Yeleys spotter should have said something like, "O.K. your clear, clear, oh *&%$ move up move up, the 6 car is right on your $%^&...oops, sorry 'bout that, I was talking with the 20 team". Can someone say...stupi
