Jeff Gordon and Ingrid Vandebosch will be honeymooning in two not-so-romantic places, Phoenix and Miami. I say "honeymooning" because the two of them sneaked off to Mexico and got married Tuesday.

GORDON AND VANDEBOSCH MARRIED IN PRIVATE CEREMONY
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 8, 2006) – Jeff Gordon and Ingrid Vandebosch were married in a private ceremony on Tuesday.
Family members of both Vandebosch, who was born in Belgium, and Gordon were present at the celebration that occurred in Mexico.
The newlyweds will “honeymoon” in Phoenix, Ariz., and Miami, Fla., – site of the final two events of the 2006 NASCAR season – before attending the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup banquet in New York this December. Their official honeymoon will occur after the season ends at an undisclosed location.

You beat me to it! I was going to post the press release and was checking to see if anyone had written about it yet. Hopefully the second time will be the charm for Jeff.

You'll have to find the couple's picture on the wire. (AP moved file from May -- sorry, no wedding pics yet.)
One of our desk folks saw it (we're running something in tomorrow's paper) and said: "This makes her looks six inches taller than Gordon."
My reply was something along the lines of, well, it's accurate. What is it with NASCAR drivers and their extra-tall girlfriends/wives?

I guess that she is 3 inches taller for every year older than Jeff. She's 37 and he is 35.

I guess Jeff Gordon is not that focused on the Chase anymore...I don't know why, he is only 157 markers out of 1st. Or maybe he is focused...he won the race in Sonoma after he announced his engagement to Ingrid...hmmmm, well played Mr. Gordon, let's see if it works out!

Don't be dissing my man on such a glorious occasion.
Jeff and his runway model bride will bring much needed panache to NASCAR.
Hopefully, Harvick's wife will behave herself and not try to coldcock Ingrid when Jeff and Kevin have a spat on the track, thus creating diplomatic tension between Belgium and the US.
I predict that this marriage will produce a little Jeff who will continue the Gordonian racing dynasty.

Jeff and Ingrid look like they are a happy couple. I believe that Jeff made a smart decision in marrying her during the chase. It amazed a lot of people and it may help him win the final race of the season. Congrats to Jeff and Ingrid.
