Dustin's back
... and he's writing about my favorite topic, Dale Jr.
I didn't have anything to say last month when Theresa E. sniped at her stepson in the pages of (of all things) the Wall Street Journal. (The reason: I wasn't sure to make of all of it. Plus, it was almost Christmas.) Now Junior's sister fired back on a radio show.
The whole thing is just weird. Can anyone out there make any sense of what's going on around the Earnhardt Family dinner table? And if you were Junior, would you stick with the devil you know or the devil (Jack Roush, Rick Hendrick, Roger Penske) you don't?

For someone whose rumored to be considering selling the business, it makes no sense for Teresa to have made those comments about her star player, Jr.
In light of the fact he hasn't won a championship with DEI, his chances might be better with say the RCR group where he can hobnob and compare notes with similar drivers of like caliber, Harvick and Burton.
I don't see him going with the Hendricks or Roush bunch. Junior has too many rough edges to suit those two buttoned down orgs.

RCR would be a great fit for Jr. for multiple reasons. Heck, they already sell his merchandise at the RCR museum.

I doubt Junior and Step Mommy break bread at the same table!
Let's hope this doesn't become a real distraction in '07!

David Newton, now of ESPN.com, writes about why Junior will stay with DEI. It makes perfect sense financially for both driver and organization that Junior stays at DEI. But sometimes things are a little bit more complicated than dollars and cents.

As far as I am concerned Jr. doesn't owe her anything. His father is gone (RIP), there is obviously not much love lost between the stepson and stepmother. Jr. can write his own ticket...perhaps it is time to fly...
