IROC-less
I'm not sure whether this even merits a yawn:
Without sponsor, IROC delays start to season
I mean, will anyone actually miss it? I like the idea of Cup drivers mixing it up with drivers from other series. But now that Montoya and Allmendinger will be driving in the Cup Series in 2007, and more will probably follow at some point (Paul Tracy? Ricky Carmichael? the now unemployed Michael Schumacher?) it's like every Cup race will be an IROC race.
For the record, I didn't watch a single minute of any IROC race last year. Did I miss anything?

The ones from the early 70's were the best. It was a true mix of champions from a variety of racing..... Donahue (my favorite race car driver of all-time), Foyt, Andretti, Follmer, etc.
The stretch when Al Unser, Jr. would mix it up with Big E were none to shabby either.
This series needed half of the races on road tracks to make it even, when it became all ovals I stopped being attention.
Except for the the IROC race at Daytona in 2001 where Big E made a save better than the "Pass in the Grass" after a bump from Eddie Cheaver.

... and then Earnhardt spun Cheever out on the cool down lap after the race was over.
I like the concept of the IROC series, but I agree it needed more road courses and maybe even a dirt race too. More drivers from different series would have been good too (ie. Trans Am, etc.) I will miss it if it indeed does go by the wayside.
