Big Team Rankings: Week 2

Did you watch the race? I didn't. Too many red flags, and too many laps run on Monday. (Some of us have to work, ya know.)

Even I could have told you how it would have ended up: The racing will stink, one of the Roush drivers will win, the two Hendrick stars (no, not Junior) would run up front and one of the open wheel guys will cause a big wreck. And you know what? I would have been right.

Maybe the Vegas race will be better this year. Here's hoping. Now for the rankings:

1--GIBBS
BTR: 98.6
Last week: 1st
Wins: 0
Drivers: 11-Hamlin, 18-Shrub, 20-Stewart
My take: Kyle Busch (first in Cup standings, second in N-wide, first in Trucks) is the best driver in racing right now. My fingers still hurt from having to type that.

2--HENDRICK
BTR: 89.4
Last week: 3rd
Wins: 0
Drivers: 5-Mears, 24-Four-Time Gordon, 48-Two Time Johnson, 88-Junior
My take: Two-Time and Four-Time finish 2-3 at Cali as you'd expect. As for the other two? At least they cracked the top 42!

3--CHILDRESS
BTR: 85.9
Last week: 4th
Wins: 0
Drivers: 07-Bowyer, 29-Harvick, 31-Burton
My take: A decent-enough start for a team that was poised for a fad this year.

4--ROUSH FENWAY
BTR:
Last week:5th
Wins: 1 (Edwards at Fontucky)
Drivers: 6-Reckless Ragan 16-The Biff, 17-Kenseth, 26-Mac-Murray, 99-Flippy
My take: Roush has now won the last four Feb. races at Fontucky. Don't look for the Roushkateers to break Jimmiejohnson's stranglehold on

Vegas, though.

5--PENSKE
BTR: 81.5
Last week: 2nd
Wins: 1 (Newman at Daytona)
Drivers: 2-Big Busch, 12-Newman, 77-Hornish
My take: You can tell Sam Hornish isn't yet ready for the big time. That window net needs to come down faster, son!

6--DEI
BTR: 63.5
Last week: 8th
Wins: 0
Drivers: 01-Smith, 1-Truex, 8-Martin/Almirola, 15-Menard
My take: Good to see Truex running well.

7--GILLETTE-EVERNHAM
BTR: 58.3
Last week: 7th
Wins: 0
Drivers: 9-Kahne, 10-Carpentier, 19-Sadler
My take: OMG! It was a Kasey Kahne sighting! Back-to-back top 10s covers up the fact that Carpentier is 0-fer-2 in making races. That's got to hurt.

8--WALTRIP
BTR: 56.7
Last week: 6th
Wins: 0
Drivers: 00-Reutimann, 44-Jarrett, 55-Waltrip
My take: Dale Jarrett is racing like a guy who knows he's going to retire after thre more races.

9--GANASSI
BTR: 54.6
Last week: Last
Wins: 0
Drivers: 40-Franchitti, 41-Sorenson, 42-Montoya
My take: Montoya's finish on the lead lap this year is a sign of progress.
