Birds of a feather

0ne of my favorite pursuits during the lazy, hazy days of summer is to visit my family's property along a Chesapeake Bay tributary in Virginia and fish.

Usually I reel in croaker. If I'm lucky and the bounty is plentiful, my aunt will fry 'em up, then serve them with cornbread and her homemade cole slaw on their gazebo overlooking the water.

This video I shot a few years year ago reminds me I'm not the only one out there fishing. That's my brother, by the way, taking practice shots.

What a laugh, these are my two cousins, Mike with the fish story and my cousin, John, not trying to hit a heron. What I want to know is the heron ok? This is the first time I heard of the heron story.
I am the animal person in the family - doberman, Duke,--- cats - Piggy, Chewie, Cookie. Four fish (beta's), Prince, Jake, Lisa & Lynn - (my sisters). Who do not know they have fish namesakes. I've heard from fish stores that the female beta's aren't sold much because they aren't as flashy - fin's, size, colors, etc. But the woman's liber in me, say's get them, poor girls are cheaper too. They are doing fine, entertaining the males. Lisa is chased by Lynn, they are in the same bowl. The boy's are in separate bowls, they could fight or worse if in one bowl. I guess I like fish too, only to watch.
Once went with Cousin's dad and grandfather on a fishing trip, I was around 9. Bored stiff, why did they take me? I of course was the one who caught fish. Bill, Mike's dad was getting upset. Grandfather not very happy either. Of course, I would not touch the fish, bait the fish, or pull them in. But I brought home the fish that night. What a long trip that was. A angry Uncle and who knows what Grandfather was thinking. Typical girl.

Holy Crappie! Those are my two cousins too! Linda, I don't know if that means we are related (have we met?) but I certainly know we share in our delight in remembering Uncle Bill.

Hey Mike, I think my brother might be able to help your brother with that backswing. Although, I have to say that he looks an awful lot like that other famous golfer John -- Daly, so maybe he doesn't need any lessons. From what I know though, our John hasn't been attacked by his wife lately.

I got to spend some time with your Mom and Sis at Karen's wedding this past weekend. It was great to see them and catch up a little bit.

By the way, we also have a dog that gets a little freaked out by lawn ornaments - especially around Halloween. Something about the fake corpses and stuffed scarecrows with pumpkin heads that just sets him off. Don't know why that would be.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas & New Year.
