WITW: The Christmas Eve reveal

This week's What in the World is the Friendly Center Santa:

A bunch of you knew exactly who this is:

* Karen Bouldin of Greensboro
* Suzanne Deal-Fitzgerald of Monticello, Ga. (Dad (Ogden Deal, sculptor and former county commissioner) used to rebuild him every few years in our yard. It was quite the attention grabber when Santa came out and spent part of the summer in our yard in McLeansville.)
* Sarah Foley of Greensboro, who's now a Triple WITW Winner
* Cathy Gray of Greensboro. ("I’ve lived in Greensboro since 1967 and I certainly recognize this face…. It’s our very own Friendly Center Waving Santa!")
* Joan Howell of Jacksonville, Fla., a Greensboro native whose family is still there. (Joan was first to answer, by the way. I think that's because every up here is too frozen to think, much less type.)
* Leigh Parrish of Greensboro ("It's been there ever since I was a little girl. And that was a long time ago, haha.")
* Leigh Pearce, a former Greensboro resident
* Jessica Strickland of Greensboro

Here's Santa in all his glory:

And here's a story about Big Santa we ran back in 2002. The piece mentions Suzanne's dad.

Merry Christmas, everyone. See you after the holidays.

I've known Suzanne for almost 20 years - her father's talent is alive and well! It's really neat to read stories about her father (Ogden Deal) and to see some of his work -like the statues in front of the library. The best part is that I get to work with his daughter (at our library in Covington, GA). She's a special and talented woman - and now I know why she seems to have a bit of Chritmas spirit every summer.
