Question of the week
With the Nov. 6 election right around the corner we thought we would ask:
Will you vote Nov. 6? Why or why not?
In Sunday's Ideas section we will run a column from Elon business professor David Noer on the Top 10 wrong reasons not to vote. We will also run your responses to our question.
While we want to hear from Greensboro voters, we'd also like to hear from those outside the city. What issues or races draw you to the polls? Are you a person who thinks voting is a civic duty? If so, do you try to persuade others to vote?
If you aren't voting, why have you decided not to? Do you only vote in certain elections? If so, why?
Please post your thoughts by noon Wednesday. And encourage others to post their thoughts too.

Granted by the U.S. Constitution. It is indeed my
honor and a privilege, to be able to have this
sacred duty. Whether civic or not, it is our responsibility to insure that our communities are
represented with sound leadership. Of course,
many may have other representings views. And because of that statement, then that is the main reason why I vote.
There are too many political entities in this community, that try to impose their venom on the
voters. For example. The cancellation of the
Gang Forum, that was scheduled for Monday night. Due to coerced threats made by the NAACP, that they will protest this forum. Because it mainly targeted the blacks in the community.
First question. Why didn't they protest the same forum when it was held at A&T? Is it because that most of the criminal activity in this community is committed by blacks? Or was it to incite racial tones to throw a wrench in the candidates, who are also incumbents, campaign. Such devious
plots will sure be rewarded.
Another example. Luther Falls, Jr., decides he is going to have a press conference. With the intentions of announcing his support for Tonya Clinkscale. Mind you, he called upon other people to support him in this effort. Woodard and Coffey, both candidates who ran in the at-large and district one slot were present. Falls, attends and makes the announcement that he is not supporting anyone at this time. And he walks out
of the press conference. Leaving these two people, upon whom Falls invited, speechless.
Ain't that putting the crap on the cracker!
Then we got District Five. Come on now. Trudy
Wade needs to stop distorting information and making it seem that Sandy Carmany has been neglecting the community. I wouldn't vote for Trudy if she was the only candidate on the ballot.
Because, her record on the Board of the County Commissioners, as well as her actions, were not that impressive at all. I wouldn't vote for her, also,
because I wouldn't want her gambling my future,
as if it was poker machines.
There are a lot of reasons why I vote. But, mainly because I want to. I want to, because I can. I want to because our livelihoods are at stake. And when people start complaining about the city did this, or the city didn't do this. Well, you had your chance. Now you got to wait two more years.
I know by the time this election is over. I'll probably be trucking down
several shots of tequila, with a Natural lite chaser, and a good joint. Just to say, I did my job,
now do yours.
