Should illegal immigrants be allowed to attend North Carolina's colleges? If they do attend, should they pay in-state or out-of-state tuition?

They should not be allowed in any shape form are fashion. These people are breaking the law.
Do you think we should start rewarding people that break into homes?

They should not be allowed in the country period much less be allowed to use my tax dollars to get an education. I want my tax dollars to go towards educating my daughter first and foremost.

Come in legally then we will talk.

This wrong headed initiative by Bowles, Easley and company will encouraged even more illegals to come to NC.

Our country, state and city is losing its appeal to its financial backers, the taxpayer.

The type of people we ellect are not listening to us.

America does not possess an endless amount of resources to care for the worlds poor and displaced.

Come in legally then we can have an intelligent dialogue.

Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to attend North Carolina's colleges, especially at ANY reduced rate. Until there is an effective solution in place for admitting or deporting illegal immigrants and an effective means of administering entry, illegal immigrants should not be given any benefit which would entice them to come to this country or stay if already here.

Let's continue to grind our heels upon those that don't look and act like us - in the long ago past black people were denied almost any type of educational opportunities - in some areas it was even unlawful to teach a black person how to read, and now . . . . well, you can see what happened when the school doors were opened to just anybody. I'm scared of folks that aren't from around here - I'm uncomfortable being around those who talk with strange accents and eat foods I'm not familiar with and I sure don't want those kind of people mingling with me and my sons and daughters - I want them to go back to wherever they came from . . . I just want things to be like they used to be.

First commenter, Doug Johnson, makes a good point. Anybody whose parents break the law should be denied in-state tuition. Your parents get a speeding ticket? No in-state tution for you!

Doug Johnson said:

Holden, you in my opinion are comparing apples to oranges. Black were not here as illegals. Black people spoke English, we did not have to hire policeman, teachers that spoke English, at a cost to the taxpayers. We did not give them free health care. These people are breaking our laws. Would you like it if your child was denied ,entrance in UNC, so some illegal could get in? If we do not stop the flow of illegals, they will not be a USA in the next ten years. If the government would seal the boarders, we then could work on the other aspect of the problems. If our government was enforcing the laws we would not have this problem! They are allowed to drive with no car insurance, you try that in NC, let us know how you come out.

No way! When I applied for school back when,
I had to pay out-of-state tuition. But then I opted
to go to a private school. And I'm a legal citizen!

Saw a article last night where ASU would have 16,000 applications and only 2700 seats. Seems like tht would leave out a lot of NC students with out allowing the school to be taken over by ILLEGALS.
