The price of crime keeps rising
The $114 million bond proposal for a new 1,000-bed Guilford County Detention Center, though needed, is mind-boggling.
Unless you live in Mecklenburg County, where consultants advised commissioners they need to build prison space for an additional 4,500 inmates by 2030. The cost could exceed $500 million.
At some point, it’s got to be a lot cheaper to pay for effective crime prevention.

I thought that we did....it's called the Greensboro Police Department. Oh, wait, you said "effective" crime prevention. GPD hasn't been effective since Mitch Johnson started mitch-managing it.

Paying more money for naughty naughty feelly goody good alternatives to stop lock down is utopia. The place to start is a safe clean time out. Every family in this county will at some point need to put a few dollars in the plate to get out uncle Harry or cousin Jane or get out a kid out of some "adolecent error" that is unless your own family sees no evil hears no evil says no evil. Goody To You.

I say we breed 'em out. Go to jail for a violent crime and receive a free vasectomy or your tubes tied. That might not help in the short run, but future generations will thank us!
