Question of the Week
Why didn't the War Memorial Auditorium bond pass?
The auditorium's situation is dire: Its deteriorating condition could cause it to be shut down in five years.
So why didn't Greensboro voters support it?

I voted for. But, my guess is simply that the number was too big. I like the idea of going to the community, foundations, patrons of the arts, etc and getting some private funding and then returning to the citizens for another bond on down the road.
We can do this together. Id like to see money for The Civil Rights Museum, the old baseball stadium and to create some upgrades for the new pool as well.
Just my opinion.

In this environment getting money for any project is going to be hard. Not to worry Mick, the good ole boys in Raleigh, will always have money for pork projects that buy votes!

Maybe a run-down War Memorial gives a more old-timey, kind of "Chitlin Circuit" feel that maybe is kind of nostalgic for many, most likely a high number of which also voted down the sales tax.

Why in the world do we need this money pit. The facility doesn't make enough money to maintain itself. Perhaps the good folks in Greensboro need to see the books.
